Okay guys, it is FINALLY summer!!!!!

I am so excited to get back to work on a few fun projects that I have in mind, choose my senior reps, AND fill you guys in on a few things going on for me personally.

First off- THIS! A few weeks ago, we bought our dream house! We searched for the perfect size, location, and style for several months and ended up finding the perfect fit thanks to our realtor Jared with Keller Williams Realty. (If you need a guy, check him out because he is AWESOME to work with!)

We’ve spent every spare second since then cleaning, painting, shopping, decorating, and getting it all put together so that we could just enjoy it once summer came. And we met our goal!

Of course the photographer in me just had to get photographic evidence of it all, some professionally done and some just with my iPhone.

Here are a few phone snaps from the process:

A HUGE thanks to everyone that came to help us clean, paint, move, organize, etc.- especially my mom and Rob. Seriously, we couldn’t have done it without y’all!

Annnnnnd here is the finished product:

And because I hadn’t put my husband through quite enough for the past few months, we also took a few more:

Eeeeek! Thanks again to everyone who helped us through-out this entire thing whether it was with labor, research, prayers, or well wishes. We truly appreciate it!

Stay tuned because this won’t be the last that you see from this house. 😉 Also, if you are selling your home and need a real estate photographer, CALL ME! Trust me, pictures are an important part of the process. There were a ton of homes on the market that we weren’t even motivated to look at because the advertising pictures just weren’t all that appealing. Our house, however, had great photos that made us take the leap to go look at it and OH MY GOD am I glad we did. 😉

When thinking about my New Year’s Resolution, I always try to think of realistic ways to challenge myself. I start by looking at the past year of my life and thinking “IF I could change something, what would it be?” and then I branch off of that.

I don’t believe in regret, but I do believe in self improvement. This is the reason why I do this. And the reason why I share it with you all is to make myself more accountable.

This year, my goal is MORE!

I hit a lot of highs (and lows) in 2016. The peaks were getting married, traveling, reaching career and business goals, and becoming more self aware. I want to build on that in 2017.

Now, in the terms of “more…” I don’t want to focus on more money, more followers, more commitments. No.

I want to do more for my short term life.

I want to get more sleep. Take more personal photos. I want to say “yes” to more outings with friends and to more date nights with my husband. I want to read and relax more. I want to give myself more of me.

As cheesy as that sounds (and I know it does), I want to do it. When I look back on my life, of course I want to see the goals that I have accomplished and the life that I have built, but I also want to be able to say that I enjoyed each day. Instead of worrying about the future… the plan… the long term… I want to enjoy my life more, while still being “more” for others.

I know that this will be a tricky path to navigate, as it is a little bit contradictory to try to relax more and give more, but figuring out the balance of life has always been intriguing to me. I’ve always walked that line closely, teetering on either side every now and then, but this year, I’m going to work even harder to find the balance.

I am going to laugh when I want to cry. I am going to take a nap or read a good book when I’m stressed out. I am going to “give it to God” when I’m struggling with “not being someone’s cup of tea.” I am going to appreciate those around me and do a better job of showing it without reservation. I am going to love myself and my life – presently – more than ever before.

Best wishes and Happy New Year!

I’m pre-writing this blog at midnight on a Tuesday.

I can’t sleep, so I’ve been obsessively reading the “25 Things You Didn’t Know About Me” column for the past 2 hours. Because of this, I decided to write my own, so here it goes:

1. I am one of those annoying people who always says “Everything happens for a reason.” As cliche as that is, I really be it. For example: I always imagined that my parents getting divorced would be a terrible thing. However, because of that bump in the road, I now have SO many good things in my life. Because of that event, my dad began to coach again which is how I met my husband. My husband (then boyfriend) introduced my dad to my stepmom and my mom to my stepdad. I mean come on, that has to be fate!

2. I always say that I can’t cook, but the truth is, I don’t like to do things that may be a disaster when I’m crunched for time (which is August – May). Because of this, I have developed a HUGE love for fast food, delivery pizza, and the Waitr app.

3. I never wanted an indoor dog. Ben did. Once we moved to Lake Charles in 2012, he wore me down and we got Winston. Best. Decision. Ever.

4. I converted our extra bedroom into a closet. Now, when looking for possible future houses, a room-sized closet is a must. I can’t go back now!

5. I’ve never been bored before. Seriously. I can always find something to do around the house, a Netflix series to start, or a YouTube make-up tutorial to watch that will take up HOURS!

6. I love to travel more than anything. I go into a mild depression when I don’t have a trip to look forward to. My favorite places that I’ve traveled to so far have been Ireland, New York City, and Alaska.

7. I do most of my shopping online (another time saver)! I’ve even gotten to the point that I’ve started using Prime Pantry for most of our groceries.

8. I still collect DVDs. I love movies and TV shows so much and have this irrational fear that my favorites will disappear unless I have a hard copy. Sorry, but my kids HAVE to be able to watch Smart House and America’s Sweethearts.

9. I flew a plane once. It was only for a few minutes… And with the help of my pilot stepdad… But it still counts!

10. My favorite celebrities are Jennifer Aniston and Audrey Hepburn. I think that they are not only talented, but strong, brave, and intelligent – some one that even young kids of the future could look up to!

11. My favorite college course was a government class. I learned so much and I honestly think that EVERYONE should be required to take it in order to be educated when forming their political opinion.

12. I was raised Southern Baptist. I fell in love with the Methodist Church when Ben and I started dating and adopted it as my own denomination 7 years after I started attending.

13. I’m an Extroverted Introvert, if that makes any sense. If you are confused by this, check out this list: Extroverted Introvert.

14. It has always been a dream of mine to stay close to home. I want for my future children to be close to family, as family is the most important thing in the world to me! Plus, my mom is a great cook and I’d love random dinner dates!

15. Most of my friends are people that I’ve known forever. It’s to the point that my friends actually call my mom MeeMee because we’re basically a big family. They also get extremely excited when we get her to dance with us, which isn’t a hard task:

16. I graduated from high school and college with top honors. I’m not extraordinarily brilliant, but what I lack in brain power I make up for in perfectionism.

17. I love to read, especially during the summer while at the beach. A few of my favorite books are The Spectacular Now, Looking for Alaska, and All the Bright Places.

18. I love a good to do list. I am balancing 2 jobs, a home, and a family, so my life requires me to plan ahead. I make a to do list every day, but I don’t always stick to it. I am also an excellent multi-tasker.

19. My favorite thing to do in my down time is to drink margaritas while playing games with my family and friends. Seriously, you should see us play Hollywood Game Night and/or Beer Pong. It’s quite the site – especially after a few margaritas haha!

20. I want my future home to be a mixture of farmhouse and plantation style with a slightly modern twist. I know this probably makes no sense, but give me a few years and I’ll show you! 😉

21. Me and Ben have no idea when we want to have kids, but we love them! Plus, we already have 3 names picked out (2 girls and 1 boy).

22. If I could only eat one meal for the rest of my life, I would choose the chicken parmesan and fried bowtie pasta from Copeland’s. The picture of health, I know.

23. I can’t relax if my house isn’t clean. My favorite scent to walk in my house to is the smell of bleach.

24. Reality TV shows are my guilty pleasure. I love covering up with a heated blanket, eating popcorn, and watching the latest episode of Real Housewives, The Bachelor, or Vanderpump Rules. I’m basic, I know.

25. My business started when a college classmate saw pictures I took of my family on Facebook and offered to pay me $50 to do her engagement pictures. I still have my favorite photo from that session hanging in my office.

It’s been a while since I’ve done a “personal” post, so I figured this may be a good one! I did something similar to this a few years back and you guys seemed to like it, so I hope you enjoyed this one as well! My New Year’s Resolution last year was to do more personal posts, which is a promise that I’ve kept better some months than others haha!

Coming soon is THIS year’s resolution, so check back soon for that, as well as many more beautiful photos of my fabulous clients! 🙂
