Little Colt was nottttt a fan of pictures. Or me. BUT, we did manage to get a few super cute shots, as well as some hilarious bloopers. Here they are:

Coming up next are a couple of adorable seniors. Check back soon to see. :)

Senior season kicked off before the summer was even over. Now here we are, starting the new year, and I have yet to share with you these sessions. You’ve missed A LOT. This blog will be a massive recap. There will still be a lot that I don’t get to show you, but these are my absolute favorite highlights from this senior season so far. Enjoy. :)

Let’s start with my high school seniors. (Some of them you may recognize as my fab reps for the year.)

Until next time!

It’s been over 2 months since I’ve posted. I’m horrible, I know. But give me a break because A LOT has happened. First of all, I graduated college. I’m so happy to announce that I’m finished with school! This is both a huge relief and a huge question mark. Am I done being a student forever? Who knows. But for now, I’m feel so accomplished to have graduated Summa Cum Laude with my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education!

Most people probably thought that life would slow down a bit once I was finished with school, buuuuuuut I’ve never been one to allow myself simplicity in life. I have a knack for saying yes, what can I say. The plan was always to go to school, graduate, and then spend a few years focusing on my business and deciding on my path. However, life happens and things change. Instead, I took a teaching position before I even graduated and have already started a career in the field of education, which is another reason for my absence on the web. (Sidenote: Readers- each of you know a teacher. Go give him/her a hug. I’m begging you. Please. I’m a hard worker and I’ve had my share of jobs, but teaching…. HARDEST JOB ON THE PLANET! Seriously. You don’t know tired until you’ve taught 23 rambunctious second graders. Teachers need hugs.)

Upon taking the job, I got a lot of questions about what this means for my business. “1. Are you quitting the business? 2. Are you slowing down? 3. Are you giving up on the idea that photography will ever be your full-time career?” No, yes, and no.

1. No, I’m not closing up shop. Is that even a real question? I’ve worked very hard to build up my business. At times, it has completely consumed me. For years I’ve built up a portfolio, made amazing relationships with people both in and out of the business, and accomplished many goals, all-the-while trying my best to learn and grow as a photographer and businesswoman! I’ve experienced a lot in these beginning years of my career and I know that there is still SO much left to experience and do. I have absolutely no intentions of letting this go. The rush that I get from this creativity-filled profession are unmatched and dream-worthy. Would you let that go?

2. Yes, I am slowing down. Now that I’m at school 12 hours a day, 5 days a week, something has to give. I’ve decided that rather than take on my usual number of wonderful clients and give each less of my self, I’ll take on fewer clients in the coming year and still maintain the kind of 1-on-1 customer service in which I so strongly believe. This is going to be great for ME AND YOU, I promise!

3. No. I don’t think I’ll ever be ready to let go of the possibility that photography will some day be my one and only full-time career. However, it is a lot more fun to work as a photographer and remain creative and spunk-filled when you aren’t worried about how to pay the bills. I love photography and I have reached a certain level of success with it, but at the end of the day, it is a profession that offers services that people don’t HAVE to have. Photography is a luxury. In times/ months that people can’t afford these services, my bills don’t stop. ;) When I saw the opportunity to teach (which I also have worked so hard to achieve and is also an incredibly rewarding job), I couldn’t say no. So for this answer in short- One day, I’m going to have to choose ONE job. When I get married or have children, I know that I will no longer be willing to give so much of my life (99.99%) to my two jobs. But, today is not that day. I’m having my cake and eating it too. Steady, reliable pay and making a difference in children’s lives during the week and documenting and preserving other’s most precious memories on weekends. It’s not a bad life. :)

I hope that this answers the questions/ concerns that I know a lot of you have been having. As for my web presence, I’m working on it. Blogging use to be such a high priority for me. I also loved the outlet that it gave me and how it was such a personal way to keep everyone up-to-date on not only my work, but my life. It has been a pillar of my business and has fostered that 1-on-1 connection between me and my clients/ readers that I mentioned earlier. I didn’t realize how much I needed/loved it until I let it go for a while. I have also been told by many clients that my posts have been missed. Now that I know that these mean as much to you as they do to me, I promise to work on it! Time is scarce these days, so bare with me. ;)

And because no post is complete without a picture, here are a few phone pics from my recent trip to NYC!(Oh yeah, another reason I’ve been M.I.A. ;) )
