Archive for January, 2014

I have been working with Tristan & Johnathan for a while now! I absolutely love both their engagement and bridal session, so I knew that the wedding would be spectacular! I am so thankful that my last wedding of 2013 was such a hit! I absolutely love the photos and can’t wait to show ALL of them to the bride and groom! Until then, here are a few of my favorites! 🙂

Mr. and Mrs. Blume, thank you for including me in your day, being so fun to work with, and being so appreciative of it all! I can’t wait to work with you both again! 🙂

Aaron is one of my 2014 seniors. He is my first out-of-state senior as well, which is a huge milestone for me. I love the way that these urban-esque photos turned out and I’m so excited to be able to share them all with you now!

To the Meaux family- it was a pleasure working with you all! I hope that you love the photos as much as I do! Be sure to call me next time you’re in and need photos! 🙂

Here we are again. A new year. Fresh starts and new beginnings. My 2013 was AMAZING, so although I’m excited for the new, there isn’t much I will be leaving behind in 2013. 🙂 (See awesome photo slideshow ;)) There are quite a few things I hope to gain, though.

Every year, we all make resolutions. Let’s be honest. 99% of the time, we don’t follow through. How many of you put that gym membership to use or actually made it to every Sunday morning church service? We’re human. We get lazy. Last year, I found that writing down my resolutions and sharing them with others really helped me to actually work to keep them. (No one likes looking like a liar or fool! ;)) It worked pretty well, so this year I’m doing the same. 🙂

My Top 5 Goals for 2014:

1. Do more in my personal life
This is my biggest struggle. With school, lessons, observations, homework, housework, errands, sessions, weddings, editing, paperwork, and everything else that comes with being a full-time student/ home-owner/ business operater/ photographer, I often live my life by a to do list. Not kidding. I even schedule when I will wash my hair and eat lunch. That most likely won’t change until next year when I will finally be free from school. However, I still want to make time to actually LIVE this year. Although free time is rare, I want to make the most of the little bits of it that I have. I want to DO more. Time with family. Dinner with my boyfriend. Drinks with friends. Fetch with my puppy. I will find a way to make it happen!

2. Keep reading
Last year, I met my New Year’s resolution which was to read 40 books in 2013. I use to be one of those people who “didn’t have time” to read. Then I learned this: you have the time that you make. Where you put it is your choice. So, more reading and less Facebook stalking/ Youtube watching/ Google searching. I feel so much more fulfilled when I read a chapter than when I read 25 status updates. This year I want to continue this, adding in reading my bible more. I’m hoping for a simple 10 minutes every night before bed to study it.

3. Travel
Travel is my favorite thing in the whole world. This is another thing that will mainly have to wait until 2015, but I still want to do as much as possible of it this year! My aim is 3-4 trips and as many weekend get-aways as school and work will permit!

4. Graduate with honors

So far, I have successfully completed every semester of college with all A’s. I want to continue my 4.0 streak and graduate with these honors. Now that I am approaching my hardest year education-wise, this will be difficult, but I am going to try my hardest to make it happen!

5. Prepare for business post-graduation
I love my job. I want to keep it forever (or for as long as it makes sense). Now, I cannot devote myself fully to it due to school, classes, etc. After I graduate, I want to expand and dive into full-time work. Instead of only taking sessions on weekends and doing office work during the week, I want to create new business hours in order to serve more clients. I want to do A LOT more weddings. I want to attend workshops more than once a year. I want to do a bridal show. I want to blog more. This year, I will make a plan for how I will fulfill all of this and tackle major business turn-around in 2015. 🙂

So, that’s it. I’ve written it down and sent it off into cyberspace. You’ve read it, internet, so now you can hold me accountable. 🙂
